SAES for Bees: Small Actions, Big Impact
In 2024, SAES Getters launched the “SAES for Bees” project, adopting four corporate beehives at its Lainate headquarters.
This initiative, carried out in collaboration with Apicoltura Urbana – an Italian company specializing in corporate beehive adoptions – strengthens SAES’s long-standing commitment to environmental sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility, already reflected in several local initiatives.
Through the adoption of these hives, SAES is making a tangible contribution to environmental protection and the preservation of bees, which play a vital role in maintaining biodiversity and ecological balance.
The hives, home to around 240,000 bees, are located in a dedicated green area within the production site. The space is fenced and features informative panels and recycled plastic furnishings created by Idea Plast, an Italian company that designs and manufactures recycled plastic products.
The daily care of the bees is entrusted to the experts of Apicoltura Urbana, who ensure the wellbeing of the colonies and periodically organize guided visits for small groups of employees — a unique opportunity to observe the bees up close and discover the wonders of their world.
The goal is to raise awareness among employees and visitors about the crucial role bees play in pollination, a process essential to the health of plants and ecosystems.
But the project also brings a sweet reward!
In 2025, the hives – thriving and in excellent health – produced 54 kilograms of high-quality wildflower honey, which will be shared with employees and stakeholders as a symbol of collaboration, commitment, and care for the environment.
SAES for Bees is a small yet powerful example of how sustainability can start with simple, meaningful actions — turning a local initiative into a universal message of respect and responsibility toward our planet.
