Materials Scientist

Role Overview

We are looking for a Materials Scientist to work on mid- to long-term innovation projects, contributing to the development of new materials, processes, and technologies.

The role involves working on both internal strategic initiatives and externally funded projects (e.g. Horizon Europe), collaborating with cross-functional and international teams.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work on innovation projects, with a specific focus on ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and within budget in collaboration with a manager
  • Develop project plans, define milestones in collaboration with the manager, and proactively manage risks
  • Support feasibility studies, prototyping, and validation of innovative concepts using a “fast fail” approach
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for internal stakeholders and external funding bodies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-site teams to align on standards and best practices
  • Monitor and evaluate emerging technologies, supporting their integration into products and processes
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of materials, technologies, and manufacturing approaches

Education & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Materials Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or similar

Preferred Knowledge (nice to have)

  • Powder metallurgy
  • Advanced manufacturing processes
  • Surface science
  • Powders preparation and characterization
  • Additive manufacturing
  • Vacuum technologies

Required Skills

  • Strong technical background in scientific/engineering disciplines
  • Experience in managing or contributing to complex projects
  • Experimental mindset and structured problem-solving approach
  • Proactive, innovation-driven attitude
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication skills (technical and non-technical audiences)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work autonomously
